98se to XP upgrade

I’m upgrading from 98SE to XP Pro. My chief concern is that somewhere XP will ask me to convert to NTFS. If it does and if I do will my C: be converted cleanly or will I lose my data? I intend to backup the data on a cd but still have the Fat32 to NTFS question staring me in the face. Is there anything else I should worry about also?
