I have a maxtor diamond plus 40Gb hard drive that died on me a couple of days ago. It wasn’t spinning at first because there are no power coming in so I swap the connector with another diamond plus except the other was a 20GB. The drive now has power and is spinning but the computer does not detect it. I think the drive itself is bad because as it spins, it makes this clunking sound. My question is, what can I do to revive this drive atleast one more time so I can get all my data from it? I tried hitting it several times just in case the reader might be stuck but still no luck. There are a lot of important data in there so I would appreciate it if someone can help me bring my hard drive back to life, even if it’s just for a couple minutes.
