A professional way for installion

I ‘m familiar with windows ,but there is something that I real want to know everytime when I add a new device in a computer using win9x/Me or Win NT/2000 I’m required a cd to configure the device ,so I would like to know a professional of installation so that when I’m adding a new device every components of windows will be in the installed windows components.
