Access a compressed Windows 98 drive

by blackcurrant . Updated 23 years, 3 months ago

Hi

I have a friend who recently damaged his Windows 98 SE system. It has now been replaced by a smart Windows XP Home machine. However, he needs to get data off the drive which was compressed using the built-in drive compression program. I can connect the drive as a slave in the XP machine and see the compressed files, Drivespace.000 etc, but do not know how to ‘decompress’ them.

Is there a way to get access to the files locked up in the compressed volume? Does anyone know of a utility that will allow me to do this, or will I have to put the drive into a Windows 98 SE machine and boot it up?

Any help will be appreciated.
