Accessing Shared resources on Win98

by gustavo_betancourt . Updated 24 years ago

I have a laptop running Windows XP and a desktop running Windows 98. I am trying to share resources (folders, files, printers) between the two machines. When I share a Windows XP folder and try to access it from a Windows 98 machine I can access it with no problems. However, when I share a folder or printer on the Windows 98 computer and try to access it from Windows XP, I cannot do it. I can see the computer in “My network places” under the “workgroup” tab, but when I double click it to accessthe shared resources the following error comes up: “\\*computername* is not accessible. You mighn not have permissions to use the network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions. The network pathwas not found.” Please advise.
