Active Desktop Removability

I have several machines running Windows 2000 Pro. SP1. On these PC’s I also have a software that requires it to be no higher than SP1. This same software is having a problem with Active Desktop. I need to know if there is a way to completely remove Active Desktop, not just disable it. I have disabled it and still have problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
