Active Directory

I am running Windows 2000 Advanced Server in a Lab environment. I promoted the server to a DC using dcpromo with out problems. Now, with no errors showing in event viewer, every time I launch Active Directory Users and Computers My Server freezes on me and everything stops. It does not come back to life until I power the server off and back on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
