We are looking at using W2000 AD to upgrade our network. We have three sites linked by routed ISDN connections with the central site having 25-30 users and the two other offices having 5-10 users. The other offices are separate companies that are part of the same group. I have been considering installing a W2000 DC in all three sites and having a single domain with three sites. Has anyone got a similar setup with such small offices ?
I currently have NT4+Exch5.5 in the main site and no servers in the other sites. I would like to keep the NT4 server with Exch5.5 and just upgrade the PDC. We will upgrade the Exch server when we have more time. All sites currently run Win98 workstations. Some of these workstations need to access all the other sites.
We are worried about replicaton traffic hence the three AD sites, but we are unsure whether to go for the three separate domains because of the complexity it adds. We will have to manage the smaller sites from the central site which is the main company.
Any advice welcome…especially on the Ad layout and alternative solutions.
