Active Directory domain name change

I am currently running an active directory domain with 3 domain controllers and 4 member servers. I have been asked to look into the possibility of changing our root domain name to accomidate a new catalog service in our library.
Is it possible to change the forest name without loosing my current active directory information and killing my Exchange 2000 mail services and web page access.
