Active Directory Remains Inactive

Here is the story: My netowrk previously ran two seperate domain controllers under NT, one is DOMAIN1 and one is DOMAIN2. The DOMAIN1 server was upgraded to windows 2000 server as the DOMAIN2 server remained NT. I am have now retired the DOMAIN2 server and replaced it with an entirly different computer system running win2 advanced server. Keep in mind both servers are now operating independantly.
The issue: After sucessfully transfering the user accounts from the DOMAIN2 NT system to the new DOMAIN2 2k system and powering down the old DOMAIN2 computer, transfered as well as new users do not recognize the domain when attempting logons.
