Add Win2000 Server to NT4 Network

I need to add a new Win2000 server to a network with one NT4 server. I would like to set up the new server as the domain controller, and the old NT4 server, which is now the PDC as a BDC. Can this be done without reentering the SAM database info?And, if so, how. Would like to convert to Active Directory also if possible.
