Adding DNS to W2K domain controller

I have a domain controller running W2k Server, Exchange 5.5, and active directory installed on it. but DNS is not installed, can DNS still be installed on it and should it be installed as integrated with active directory, and will it affect the users logging on and trying to get out on the internet? any help would be most appreciated.
