address bar in Win XP…

Hello:

I recently purchased an OEM full home version of Windows XP; it is installed on my Toshiba laptop. When I installed it initially, it was under FAT32, however, I’ve since converted it to NTFS. Anyway, when I go to launch IE 6.0, it loads fine, but the address bar itself does not appear at all. It is “enabled” (that’s the first thing I checked). The word “address” does appear on the menu bar, but the bar itself is non-existent. I’ve tried downloading IE 6.0 again, however, it will not install. I keep getting some proxy server message (which I’ve entered my proxy server, but to no avail). I’m wondering if this address bar thing is an actual XP “bug”, or maybe perhaps does something in the registry need to be turned on? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
