Administrative logon problem

Background
Have a client with 2000 pro. not participating on a network. they had no password to login. He created a new power user to use as his login. Now when he restarts, the login window appears, but it won’t accept any logon password or user. so he is locked out of the system.
What would be the best way to fix this, apart from a rebuild.
