Administrator Password & Active Dir

I changed the administrator password on my Win 2000 server. Shortly therafter I received an error when trying to access Active Directory Users and Computers. The error is this: Namimg info cannot be located because logon attempt failed. I am beginning to wonder if changing the password through Active Directory Users and Computers by right clicking the account was the right place to do this. If so, can I just reboot the server and will I de able to log back in with the new password?
