adobe acrobat reader

i get a type 2 error each time i try to open acrobat reader 4.05 i have tried adjsuting the memory and have reinstalled program. the readme file is a pdf (not too smart) and adobe’s website charges you to ask a question. there is probably a simplesolution but i cant see it.
