After Ram install WIndows 2K won’t start

After installing an additional 128 MB of RAM on my Compaq Presario 5838, WIndows 2K Prof won’t start. My system just keeps rebooting then comes up with a “stop” message –
“stop: Address: 804B535B base at 80400000, date stamp3d366b8b – ntoskrnl.exe”

How do I configure my system so windows will recognize the additional RAM and start. When I remove the RAM windows starts with no problem.
