All fine until switch profiles/ Win 98SE

When I switch profiles, as startup programs load, they each “perform an illegal operation”. usually in KERNEL32, & will now close. if it fully loads task mgr shows all is still running. I am just unable to explore. I ran both PC-cillin2k & had Trendcheck online, nothing found. All this seemed to start after trying that Trillian thing. Needless to say that is gone now. The only other program installed was PC-cillin. of course the last restore point is back in march.

Please Help!
