All Icons 256 Colors

After I restarted my W2k m/c after a crash all the icons have become 256 colors. I reinstalled my Video Card (Rage 128pro) and Monitor (E770s) drivers after that. Still no improvement.

All the other programs, like videos, images are shown 32 bits, but all the icons (taskbar, shortcuts, internet explorer links) are 256 colors.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
