I’m a 43-year-old man with a college degree in communications. I’m fairly computer savvy (for someone my age) and most of my friends use me to work on their computer when they need some general maintenance. I’ve always regretted not going into a computer related field, because most of my knowledge comes pretty easily for me. Have I waited too late in life to change careers, and if not, what is the best way for me to increase my computer knowledge and move into a career path – college or technical training school (IT Tech, Virginia College, etc.)? I know I’m not knowledgeable (or stupid) enough to hang out a shingle and try to make a go of it on my own. I would also like to say that I’m married with 2 kids, making about $50k a year, and can’t afford to drop from that level to go through a trainee position to gain experience. What next?
