I just got done setting up my first Windows 2000 server. Everything went fine with the AD install and all that. I have one little problem that is bothering me. When we setup AD the name we gave the domain was companyname.com, now when I try to get to companyname.com’s website, which is hosted externally, from my Win2K machine which is using the Win2K DNS server, I can’t resolve it. I am using a forwarder in DNS to forward any external name resolution to my ISP. My question is is there any way to make this work properly. I can get around it by typing the IP address of the Website in my browser, but I want to know if I can setup anything in DNS to get around this. I know it has something to do with calling the internal domain the same as thewebsite domain. Any help is appreciated.
