Applying NT Service Packs

When installing NT 4 what is the correct order in installing Serice Packs. Some say all you have to install is the latest (6a) Others say SP4 then 6a…and yet I’ve heard some say 3,4,5,6. Is there a consensus out there or some documentation someonecan point me to. Thanks
