ASP Question

I am trying to learn how to create ASP pages within a Windows XP Professional environment. I just created a very simple,

“

Hello World

”

style ASP page. However, when I open up the ASP page in Internet Explorer, the scripted content that should be displayed is nowhere to be seen. Why is this the case?
