I have one 320GB Western Digital SATA HD in an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard. The POST screen will lists the drive and I can get into the RAID Configuration (although I can’t do anything with it-I have only one drive) I am using this drive as a large capacity storage drive and will therefore keep my 80GB IDE drive as the boot drive. When I boot the PC with the SATA cable attached to the drive, I get a good post and then a blank screen. It will not boot at all. When I unplug just the SATA cable, the PC boots normally. I installed the supplied drivers for the SATA controller and flash with the latest BIOS too. I called Asus and they were very curt and unhelpful. They said “RMA it if you want to”. I don’t have time for that right now. This question is very simliar to this post but the answer didn’t seem to be there:
