Authentication problem with W2K and SP3

by kenmmiller . Updated 23 years, 4 months ago

I have the following 2 servers…
1) A Primary Domain Controller for domain ‘this_dom’. It is a Winows NT4.0 Server with Service Pack 6
2) A Winows 2000 Server running Service Pack 3. It is a member of ‘this_dom’.

From a Windows 200 Professional workstation with SP2, I am able to connect to a share point on the Win2K Server using the ‘Connect using a different user name’ option with a user name of ‘this_dom\user’ and its proper password used in the ‘this_dom’ domain. This works just fine.

When I install SP3 onto the Windows 2000 Professional workstation and attempt the above operation, I get “Incorrect password or unknown user name”. If I use an account that is local to the Win2K Server, I am able to access the shared directory.

Can anyone tell me what SP3 broke on my Windows 2000 Professional workstation?
What need I do to me W2KPro to allow it to connect?

Thanks.
