Auto arrange icons default setting

I am so tired of having to reset the “auto arrange” icons setting for individual folders.
I am aware of the various ways to accomplish this “folder by folder”.
Is there a way to set Win2k to do this by “DEFAULT” for “ALL” folders in explorer.It seems to me I used to have things this way but I’m not sure. I thought the answer would be simple but it seems to evade me.
