I am working in a company that doing PC assembler and also provide standard software installation (like OS, driver and maybe some application software preloaded). The server contain a harddrive that store all the neccessary image file that needed for a new machine to install. My network architecture is like this, every new machine will be automatic log into the server by using a batch file which boot from Floppy disk. So when they log into the so call “image” server, they will search for particular image files according to their model, then download it and perform auto execute the image file locally for the installation process (like normal we do in desktop from CD-ROM, but this all images files are put in a temporary partition). So all units (about 360 one time) are sharing the exact or same of the software images if they are from same or different models, because the unit we build have many different model depend on customer request. And since we had so many model been built, and all image files are cross sharing, so some files may be frequently used but some old model image files, like outdated driver image file may not be accessed since last few months but just taking out the space. So i wanted to free some space from the server, and the first target i want to clean is these unaccessed image files siince a few months ago, to delete them but i am worry that maybe later on we may need it back, so i need to have a backup first before i delete them out from my server harddisk. If i manually check each image files (a few thousands of them) it may take out all my time in the company and the boss going to unhappy about it. So i try to look for a way or a solution that just done one then can auto perform the task: wheneverit encounetr an image files that not been access for 3 months will it will index and auto perform backup to a specify place then delete it from the hard disk.
Sound quite diffic
