Autoplay.exe runs automatically and repeatedly

Dell Lattitude D620 Windows XP SP2.
Autoplay.exe program always starts “suddenly” and runs continously with about 4 second interval and this cleary agitates the user.

There is NO CD in the drive, no external hard disk or thumb drive connected. It starts all of a sudden…
