AVI vedio file

I am facing the fallwang problem
I have an AVI vedio file , when i play it , the windows media player play it as an audio file , even though when I play it in my other computer it deals with it as an vedio file , can some one teach what should I do to make it work
I have this problem on the computer which has Windows xp oprating system , but the computer which has Windows 2000 work normal
