Awful video quality

I’ve tried to use WME for awhile now and can’t get the video quality I want. Additionally, when recording my computer slows to a crawl.
At work I have 512MB RAM and at home I have 1GB RAM and both systems completely freeze when running WME.
Any thoughts?
