Backing up via my cd-rw

Hello all,hopefully,someone has encountered the following problem,and can assist in some way.I am having a problem when backing up any of the three options for windows 2000.It lets me backup to another folder,or,volume on various harddrives;and I can also backup via a zip drive.The problem I am encountering is with the writer.For some reason,it won’t let me.I am getting a “drive not accessible” error message.The drive is on the HCL,so,I am at a loss.Can someone shead some much needed light on this dilema.
