Backup and recover Outlook Express data

I followed the steps from the following MS article for backing up Outlook Express DBX files…

It appears that the target folder I created per the instructions is linked to the OE local folders. My intention was to save/backup a snapshot of my inbox file.

Can I delete the target backup folder I created and just make a snapshot copy/backup of a given dbx file?
