Backup media invalid ?

Under Computer Management->Storage->Removable Storage->Physical Locations, I noticed the tape device (SEAGATE DAT 0624-XXX SCSI Sequential Device) marked with ‘red cross’symbol.
But, I still can see the device name as \\.\Tape0 when I go to Property->Device Info tab.
Why so ?
