Batch File stalls

I have a simple batch file that maps a few drives for my users at logon, the file worked fine in NT, but in a win2k or XP PC the batch file stalls at logon and must be manually closed, and on XP machines the user cannot log off with out gettin a endtask box to again manually close the batch file. Any ideas as to why this is happening
