BelkinWirelessKeyboard&OpticalMouse

I have just purchased this today, but although the set up seems easy, it doesnt seem to like my computer. Lights flash on all three items, ie; mouse, keyboard & reciever. Mouse works although choppy, keyboard will not work. Any ideas I have tried a few combinations for plugging in installing and clean wipe fresh installing. Plugs are=USB, ps/2 and ps/2 adapter.
