Benefits of upgrading to dynamic disks

We are planning to install Windows 2k AS on a new system. I have been reading about Dynamic and Basic Disks.
What are the benefits or problems with building the system with dynamic disks? Are there any performance increases by upgrading? I read technet and other web boards I just want feedback from people in the field.
