bios detection problems for sata2 HDD

by cbuckenham . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

Hi

I recently bought a sata 2 HDD and I’m struggling to get it hooked up on my mobo.

I currently have a +- 2year old gigabyte k8 triton mobo with 2 sata connectors and a working sata HDD. When I try to connect the second new HDD it is not detected in the bios no matter which connector I plug it into. All I find is my origional sata drive.

If I disconnect the origional drive and connect just the new drive then the pc doesn’t even get to the bios setup. It hangs in the detecting ide drives section.

I looked for a bios upgrade but the descriptions mention nothing regarding sata2 detection addition.

Any ideas?
