There is one computer running windows XP on the network which is having a continuous busy mouse pointer blinking.
Last week, i found that the My Computer name was changed to “~” on the desktop and on Start menu. I renamed it back to My Computer.
If I run any application, e.g Word, and then try to open any file using File-Open, the Combobox(Drop down menu) keep flashing and i cant open anything.
I’ve tried to scan the computer using an up-to-date version of Norton Anti Virus 2004 edition but it does not detect any viruses or threats.
I’ve also tried turning off system restore,scan, then boot in safemode, scan but still nothing is changing.
I’ve deleted all .tmp files on the machine in the temp folder.
I also run hardware tests using PC Doctor for windows but still nothing.
Please help as the busy mouse pointer is irritating.
