Blue Screen

How do you decipher the blue screen of death for a windows 98/2000 prof. and 2000 server machine. I know there are 4 parts to the blue screen of death but i cant figure out how to determine what the problem is or what is causing them. Anyone can explain or knows of an article that breaks down the causes and explinations of them.
