Boot error log files in XP Pro

I am having major problems getting my computer to start. On startup just when I expect the windows user logon it flashes a blue screen with writing for a split second then I hear a click and it reboots. Have tried F8 boot ,all options just does the same thing. I can get it to boot into the repair consol using the 6 disk floppy set made from the prog downloaded from microsoft who call it a setup prog.
I can acess my hard drive and move and copy files etc. with the consol but I don’t know where to find the boot error log or whatever, or how to do a manual system recovery.
