boot error

My computer boots fine when it is warm or you restart it. If it sits off for more than 5 or 6 hours, when you turn it on it cant find the hard drive and the startup screen sits there stupid until you either hit reset or ctrl alt del. once that is done it boots up fine and will continue to boot up fine until it is off for 5 or 6 hrs again. Any clues?
