Boot from disk on a Viao vgn 150

Sony starts its own “recovery” tool when detecting a HDD failure probability. Trying to boot from disk w/ a Bart PE disk or the windows OEM XP disk doesnt work. Optical drive is working, but Sony insists on trying to start its “recovery “tool. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
