Boot trouble

I have a Compaq Presario 5000 on my work bench. When it boots, all it does is the lights on the keyboard flash on and off. I removed the FFD, HDD, CD drives off the system board and tried a differant vidio card. I still get the same thing. I’m thinking MoBo’s dead. Am I close?
