Booting a newly installed hard drive on my Dell Latitude C400

I have just installed a new 60 GB hard drive certified for my Latitude C400. Are there any programs that I would need to boot/run this new hard drive? What should I do?

P.S. I have already backed up my old hard drive on an external hard drive.
