Booting With Vista

I’m having problems booting up smoothly to vista. I have a SATA drive with XP on it and an IDE drive with Vista on it.

When I press F8 in BIOS and boot to the IDE drive it doesn’t boot to Vista. However, if I open the CD drive then pick the IDE harddisk it boots to vista properly.

Boot priority is as follows:
IDE HD
SATA HD
CD drive

IDE
Pri Master: HD
Pri Slave: CD

SATA
Pri Master: HD
