I have recently installed a copy of a web based help desk program on to a NT 4.0 server. The server is running IIS 4.0. After install, I should be able to browse to the program using http://servername/application/
I can do this from “other” browsers on the network but not the box it is installed on.
I can browse the app on the box it was installed on using http://ipaddress/application/.
Using the browser name yields a DNS error.
I can:
ping the IP of the server
ping the name of theserver
nslookup works with the server name and IP.
The server is configured as a resolver on a network with only one nameserver(Microsoft DNS). Could this be something other than DNS? We do not use host files or lmhost files. The WINS server and the DNS server are the same machine.
Windows NT server (enterprise edition)SP6, IIS 4.0, and the help desk program (footprints) were all just installed on this box.
