How can I troubleshoot and resolve: my browser drops it’s DSL connection to Internet. I have to reboot often to re-establish an Internet connection.
Background:
Several times a day (often several times an hour), I loose the connection between my browser (IE5.0 or NS) and the Internet. I have a Pacbell ADSL (static) connection. I have had PacBell TS here several times and all they did was de-rate the speed of the connection to improve reliability (a little but still bad). When the connection drops I cannot ping anything but the gateway. Other apps. (like Real Player, and Bearshare) make the connection drop more frequently.
I tried two different computers, and three different NIC cards, and two different Alcatel 1000 modems with no luck. I have had the line checked by digital and analog service techs.
