BSOD re printer sharing

I am using Win 98 and running Questa oil and gas dos based program. It will print to Laser Jet 4 okay. Then when using QuickBooks the printer will not work causing BSOD to pop up. Back to Questa and print option comes up that says there is a printer sharing problem and offers two options to select Dos based printer program OR Windows based printer program. I have downloaded HP’s drivers for the LJ4 but this did not cure the problem. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
