Buffering when listening to live WebCast

Everytime I try to listen to a live webcast, my pc continuously buffers after several seconds. I noticed that this only happens with live webcasts. Could this be a firewall issue since a few people in my department are having the same problem?? We are using Windows Media Player v 9.0.
