burning on windows ME and windows 98

it seems that it takes up alot of memory when burning in windows 98. i cant do anything else because it just like used up all the memory, not even open mp3.
before i switched to 98 from winME, it functions well. i can even watch movie while burningsome cd.
wats the problem? memory problem?
